Prevention of cardio-cerebral complications and sudden cardiac death

The aim of the studywas to develop means for prevention of the cardio-cerebral complications and sudden cardiac death in patients with cardiovascular diseases.

Scientific novelty of the study. For the first time, based on the study of the fundamental mechanisms of development of cardiovascular diseases, a complex, pathogenetically grounded concept of a personified approach to the prevention of cardio-cerebral complications and sudden cardiac death with the use of modern therapeutic, interventional and surgical technologies has been developed and implemented. This study reflects the long-term work of scientists from leading scientific and medical centers of Ukraine, which results during a long period of time were worthy of presentation at various international European and world medical forums. The authors used modern fundamental and high-tech methods of research and treatment, introduced a multidisciplinary approach to the management of patients with cardiovascular pathology, and results have a scientific novelty not only for our country, but also for international science, as evidenced by citations in foreign publications, and involvement of authors in the creation of European guidelines for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Scientific and practical significance of the results of the study.In the course of this cycle of scientific studies, on the basis of a comprehensive study, specific recommendations for the management of patients with cardiovascular diseases have been developed, features of prevention, individual prognosing, the choice of a method of treatment and follow up in order to prevent cardio-cerebral complications, fatal arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

Data obtained during the implementation of presented cycle of studies were used for the development of the project "Programme for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Ukraine", the creation of which is regulated by paragraph 3 of the joint order of the Ministry of Health and NAMS of Ukraine № 711/61 dated July 15, 2016, and the authors are co-developers of the Guidelines and unified clinical protocols for primary, secondary (specialized) and tertiary (highly specialized) medical care, approved by orders of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, introduced into clinical practice in leading institutions of the country.

Publications and citation of the results of work.The main ones are presented in 22 monographs, 8 reference books and manuals, 3 collections of lectures, as well as 2122 other publications, 201 of which are printed abroad. According to the Scopus database, the total number of citations for authors' publications presented in the study is 10257, the h-index is 23; according to the Google Scholar database, the total number of citations is 1329, the h-index is 16. Under this topic, 11 doctoral and 88 candidate's theses were graduated, 93 patents for utility model and 3 US patents were obtained.
