On the basis of the modified hypothesis of broken sections, analytical methods for calculating stresses in the transition zones from the seam to the base metal of thin-sheet butt-welded joints with seams of different configurations were developed. In the work, the specified hypothesis was improved in terms of the hypothetical direction of movement of broken sections during stretching or bending of the connection, which made it possible to ensure the conditions of unequivocal stress at all points of the section. The range of validity of the formulas for determining the stress concentration coefficient in joints with a bilateral symmetrical seam, in contrast to existing analogues, extends to thin-sheet joints. Mathematical formulas for determining the coefficient of stress concentration around the root of the seam were obtained for the first time.
Stress concentration is one of the main factors that affect the fatigue resistance of welded joints, therefore, accurate determination of the real stress state of thin-sheet welded structures is of important scientific and practical importance to ensure their fatigue strength and cyclic durability.
The method of determining stresses in joints with a symmetrical seam is the basis of the methodology for the design and evaluation of the static strength of the welded disk of the exhaust fan impeller, manufactured at “Soyuzenergomash” LLC, which is successfully operated at the Ladyzhynskaya TES of PJSC “DTEK Zahidenergo”.
