Work number - M 68 ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE

Authors:Panasenko S. V., Barabash V. V.

Presented by the Institute of Ionosphere NAS and MES of Ukraine.

The series of scientific works consists of six research papers and eight talks and abstracts of conferences, published over the past two years.

The parameters of ionospheric disturbances in quiet conditions in specific geophysical periods: spring and autumn equinoxes and winter and summer solstices are evaluated and analyzed. The prevailing quasi-periodic oscillation of the electron density with a period of 140 – 200 min is confirmed to be manifested in all seasons in the F2 layer of the ionosphere. The duration of this oscillation was 5 – 7 hours, and reached 24 hours during the summer solstice.Wave processes with the specified periods are inherent to internal gravity waves. A number of fundamental results concerning ionospheric disturbances caused by a solar eclipse is obtained. It is shown that the eclipse has led to a major reconstructing of the ionosphere. It was accompanied by the generation of quasi-periodic perturbations with periods of 30 and 60 min.

The stable quasi-periodic response of the ionosphere to the impact of powerful radio heating facility "Sura" at a distance of about 1000 km, which was also accompanied by the precipitation of electrons from the Earth's radiation belts is first obtained. The lag time of the perturbations is shown to lie within 30 – 60 minutes, the duration was 2 – 6 periods and the relative amplitude is equal to 0.02 – 0.09 for different altitudes and in different days, when there was a powerful radio transmission. The horizontal speed of disturbance propagation was 270 – 540 m / s.

The results of the series correspond to the world standards and are of fundamental and practical importance. They substantially increase knowledge about ionospheric disturbances, as well as promote the development of global dynamical models of the ionosphere and atmosphere.

The results of research concerning this work are described in 6 papers (including 2 papers in international journals with non-zero impact factor), 14 talks and theses of conferences. Papers of the authors cited in more than 8 scientific journals, the overall index of citing publications is 7 (according to the database Scopus), h-index = 2.

The authors published 36 papers and 60 talks and abstracts of conferences in total.
