Living conditions of population in large cities of Ukraine: socio-geographical research

The main objectiveof this cycle of scientific works is the development of theoretical and methodological foundations and research methodology living conditions of the population of large citiesand its apptobation. For this purpose were set and met a number of objectives. The experience of interdisciplinary and geographical researches of large cities is analyzed. From socio-geographical position the essence of the category “living conditions in large cities” is discovered. The dynamics of urbanization in the Ukraine over the past decade, with special attention to the large cities are analyzed.   Development and testing of the author's research methodology, based on an algorithm of 8 steps and is objectively subjective assessment of the living conditions of the population of large cities on four components: economic, social, environmental, and socio-cultural. In calculating the integral index of well-being of living conditions found that the living conditions in the cities-millionaires and the most western area of ​​the city qualified as favorable. The highest index of favorable living conditions were Kiev, Lviv, Simferopol, Kharkov, Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhgorod, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava and Donetsk. By disadvantaged by the conditions of life of the population classified as an industrial city of East Ukraine - Severodonetsk, Lisichansk, Makiyivka, Pavlograd, Gorlovka, Berdyansk, Mariupol, Alchevsk, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. The direct dependence of the integral index of well-being in living conditions on the size of the citywas revealed – on average it grows from a group of cities of 100-250 thousand people to the cities-millionaires.

Scientific work cycle consists of 1 section of the monograph, 17 scientific articles and abstracts 3 conferences, published over the last 7 years.

Scientific noveltyconsists in the development of theoretical and methodological foundations and methods of socio-geographical study of living conditions of the population of large cities. Much of the material introduced into the educational process, particularly used in teaching courses "Geourbanistika", "Geography of Cities" and "Management of socio-economic and spatial development of the city" at the Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University (certificate №050 / 2087-30 from 22.08.12 ), and also used in the development of a special course "Quality of life" and teaching courses "Geourbanistika" and "Geography of the population" in Chernivtsi University (certificate №11 / 15-1522 from 05.29.2015) .

Research results are reflected in chapter 1 monograph, 17 scientific articles, 3 theses. The artworks cited in more than 20 scientific journals. Received two applications.
