The paper presents the system of improvement of living conditions of the population in environmentally critical regions, reducing technogenic influence on the ecosystems and human health on the basis of complex geological, ecological, medical, technical, physical and chemical, social, and economical researches.

A series of fundamental results were obtained as for establishing and implementing population protection systems from environmentally-caused diseases in environmentally critical regions of Ukraine. The paper contains the following strategic results: conceptual and landscape-chemical and biogeohydrochemical models of environmentally critical regions of Ukraine were developed; the system of localization technological measures for minimizing environmental hazard in environmentally critical regions of Ukraine; the system of preventive measures and treatment of main diseases of population living in environmentally critical regions of Ukraine was reasoned. New problem-solving approaches in the sphere of solid wastes were proposed. The system of tool support and principally new decision making on the selection of priority strategies on reducing technogenic load in environmentally critical regions of Ukraine was suggested.

The authors set new non-traditional tasks as for complex management of environmental safety in environmentally critical regions of Ukraine on the basis of investigation of correlational relationship between environmental pollutants and diverse diseases of population, medical and geological monitoring, and biogeochemical monitoring of environmental components (system of antioxidant protection of population) as well as for the solving problems, crisis phenomena of which are present in all regions of Ukraine – the problems of waste management on the basis of simulating ecological-economical optimization  and ecological-energetic models taking into account all the hazards.

The results of the cycle are of particular importance for solving the primary scientific-technic problem as for establishing and implementing complex system for improving living conditions of the population in the environmentally critical regions, reducing technogenic influence on the ecosystems and human health.

The results of the research are laid out in 447 scientific papers, including 55 monographs, training manuals, and textbooks, 326 papers in pier-reviewed journals (out which 18 are international). The amount of publications of the authors (according to SCOPUS database): 10. h-index: 7.

Sixty-four patents were obtained. Nine doctoral thesis and 38 Candidate’s thesis were defended.
